To go a step further, shecco does not only want to help reduce our collective carbon footprint by promoting energy-efficient and low emission technologies, but wants to set an example itself.
Being carbon neutral, or having a net zero carbon footprint from our business operations, for us means adding our small share to a more sustainable future for all living beings on this planet. We have already started to move towards carbon neutrality - or more accurately: "climate neutrality" to involve all greenhouse gases.
B2B Platforms
As a first step, we have made our B2B platforms R744.com, ammonia21.com, hydrocarbons21.com, cars21.com and the corporate shecco website carbon neutral by purchasing renewable energy for their operation. The “Green Certified Site” trustmark gives evidence of how the electricity used by computers visiting the portals, the servers providing it, and the networks that connect them, is monitored. All emissions created are then offset by energy from wind and solar farms.
Events Management: ATMOsphere
shecco is main organiser of the international workshop series ATMOsphere. Both events in 2010 and 2011 will be carbon-neutral events in that all emissions from flights, public transport, hotel nights, deliveries, catering, energy and water use etc. will be offset and will support certified emissions reduction projects around the world. For the ATMOsphere Europe workshop, close to 71,000 kg of CO2 emissions will be offset via support for an Indian project to use crop residues for creating energy locally.
Market Research & Publications
We strive to reduce the amount of paper created by shecco publications. That is why shecco uses, whereever possible, recycled paper (and vegetable ink) for its official publications. A growing majority of market research publications are only delivered as paperless versions hosted on carbon-neutral websites.
shecco business
shecco attaches great value to minimising paper and energy use, use renewable materials instead of plastics, and create a culture of environmental consciousness among its staff. We use, whereever possible, only sustainable office suppliers with certified "green" products and carbon-neutral delivery service.
In the near future, we will work with accredited bodies to lower our emissions also for other business operations. It is that simple: While we hope to still leave a decisive footprint in the HVAC&R and electric vehicle industry, we do no longer want it to be a carbon footprint.
