shecco, a global market accelerator for sustainable, climate-friendly cooling and heating technologies, seeks a deputy editor/reporter to work in its Brussels headquarters.
Our mission is to report on developments in refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump systems that incorporate natural refrigerants (CO2, ammonia and hydrocarbons) instead of super-polluting refrigerants that contribute to global warming or deplete the ozone layer. We do this through our Accelerate magazines, news websites (R744.com, Hydrocarbons21.com and Ammonia21.com), ATMOsphere conferences and market development projects at our offices in Brussels, New York, Tokyo and Sydney. .
We are seeking candidates who have strong editing, writing and reporting skills (preferably with journalism experience), a passion for journalism, and an ability to explain technical information in an engaging manner. Candidates should have an interest in technology and science – how things work. Knowledge of refrigeration technology is not required, but an interest in learning about it is.
The job entails editing and writing daily news articles for our news websites, as well as editing and writing magazine articles, about policy, market and technology trends impacting natural refrigerant-based HVAC&R equipment. You will be working closely with the editor-in-chief in the U.S. as well as website and magazine designers in Brussels, and making sure that reporters in Brussels and Tokyo meet deadlines.
Other editorial tasks include monitoring of online news and contributing story ideas. Familiarity with audio and video technology and digital photography is a plus. There will be some travel regionally and internationally.
